Lauren and Chase were married on July 30th, with a ceremony and reception at the Vista Valley Country Club.
I met up with my second shooter, Ahjile Miller, to shoot this particular wedding, and I loved working with her. She spent most of the getting ready time with the groomsmen before the ceremony and took amazing candids throughout the day as well as detail pictures and close-up ring shots. I was so lucky to have her!
I was also incredibly lucky to have the venue that we did. It was particularly beautiful, and I could have spent all day completely lost in the photoshoot if not for the fact that we were on a schedule. Lauren and Chase had been wavering between this and another venue in San Diego, and I’m so glad they went with my recommendation after I scouted it out—it turned out beautifully!
My favorite part of any wedding is, of course, the ceremony itself for the real emotion and beauty of the moment a couple is officially married. Lauren started crying as soon as she began walking with her dad, and although Chase didn’t cry, it was obvious he wanted to. In addition to that beautiful, pure emotion hanging in the air, an amazing ray of sun lit up the altar during the ceremony, and I took a shot from behind to capture it. It was perfect!
After the ceremony, we tried to grab a few more pictures, and one of my favorites is a double exposure image of Lauren and her flowers. I usually don’t have time to do these, and even when I do, they don’t always come out the way I want, but I loved how this one turned out.
During the reception, Lauren and Chase pulled off a beautiful first dance. You could tell they had practiced it beforehand, with all sorts of dips and twirls. Everyone was on their feet enjoying the dance!
At one point, I pulled the two of them aside out of the reception in order to get a good shot of the sunset with them. The catering staff was pressuring us to get the shot and move on so we could continue the party, but we got the picture we wanted even with our limited time, and I’m so glad we did!
Chase & Lauren, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your beautiful wedding! Congratulations, both of you—I wish you years of happiness together!
