Music to Life Song of the Week: Of the Girl by Pearl Jam

I love creating fine art photography, and whenever I get the chance to shoot some beautiful landscapes I take advantage. The perfect song to draw inspiration from to create a fine art piece is “Of the Girl” by Pearl Jam. It was written by guitarist Stone Gossard and it has a very different feel compared to the rest of the Pearl Jam catalog. The mood of the acoustic guitars are very ethereal, and every time I listen to it I feel like it transports me to a whole other world. The lyrics themselves are quite intense and sad at the same time.

Oh he deals em off, off the top, ties em off
fills it up, with his past, gets carried away
Oh half his life, a hand me down, wasted away
Oh he fills it up, with the love, of a girl

Fine Art – How I Shot It

This was shot at Green Valley Lake up in the San Bernardino mountains by Lake Arrowhead, California. Levitation photography is super fun too do, and not as complicated as you might think. I had the model, Stephanie, lie on a table and I just basically erased the table out in Photoshop. We shot this in the middle of the day and the lighting was really harsh, so we used a white diffusion panel to soften the light over Stephanie. I wasn’t too happy with the lighting of the background, so I reshot the background early the next morning.
