Music to Life Song of the Week: The Fountain Soundtrack by Clint Mansell
The Fountain is a movie directed by Darren Aronofsky that came out in 2006. It’s a beautiful but sad film, and one of my favorite movies ever. The visuals are astounding and the acting from both Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman are incredible and touching. The soundtrack to the film by composer Clint Mansell is equally awesome, and it’s one of the few soundtracks out there that I could listen to from beginning to end. I may base multiple images for this soundtrack in the future, just because it’s so awesome. On the way to a wedding, I was listening to “The Fountain” and an image of a bride standing in the water popped in my head. Most of the time, this is how I get inspiration for my images. It’ll happen at a random moment, and all of a sudden, an image will pop in my head.
How I Shot It
This is a real bride on her wedding day, but I did not shoot her in the water. I wouldn’t dare to do that, unless she volunteered. I actually shot her inside a room and photoshopped her later into a new background. The background was shot separately, and in order to get that oil painting effect, I stretched parts of the background to distort it a bit.
